So many questions raced through my mind with a strict nine-month timeline before the baby's arrival. How would my body change? Would everything go smoothly? How would I handle the responsibility of raising a child? How could I balance work and motherhood? How would my life change? The biggest challenge was the pressure to conceal my true feelings, put on a facade, and act as if I was overjoyed, all because society expects pregnancy to bring sheer happiness.
You're expected to be grateful, to express gratitude for being pregnant, and to suppress any other emotions. At that moment, I felt isolated and struggled to understand why I couldn't conform to the expected happiness portrayed when a pregnancy test turns positive.”
