5 Reasons Why You Should Attend A Midsummer's Song

Next week, on the 14th of September, our team at Songs of Motherhood organised a little party we've entitled A Midsummer's Song to get together and to celebrate the opening of submissions for 2024. There's no better form of communicating and connecting than in-person, and we wanted to keep this spirit alive throughout the year. And where better than mummy-owned restaurant Marilu's in the heart of Siggiewi to celebrate our local initiative?

If you need more convincing though, we've come prepared for you 🌸

1. Come and enjoy the amazing food at Marilu's

This reason alone is worth booking your spot for. Delicious mouthfuls of local goodness, made with love. The ethos at Marilu's is as warm and genuine as their food - they prepare their food as if they were feeding their own family in their own home. What's not to love? Marilu` is also a mother who fell in love with our concept. Having the event at her second home was a natural decision.

2. Reconnect with familiar faces, and connect with new ones

Songs of Motherhood is very much a community of like-minded people - mothers, aunts, motherly-figures, grandmothers who want to give a voice to their experience of motherhood in whatever shape or form this has. We're into arts, but we're also scientists, teachers, lawyers, marketers and home makers. We're raising a new generation and we want to share what that's like, in the hope that our experience resonates with others'. And that makes it a very powerful community.

3. Network!

Perhaps you're a mother with your own business geared towards other mothers and you seek opportunities to connect meaningfully with your audience. This is a surefire way to do so in an intimate and friendly atmosphere, without the pressure normally associated with these events. We're united by a common theme - you will find no strangers here.

4. You just need a night out

And that's perfectly fine. You don't need to have collaborated, or need to submit a piece to SoM for you to be able to join the event. If your aim is to have a chilled, relaxed night out in the company of good people and good food (AND WINE), then this one's for you. We'll be talking a little bit about our project and we'll have a poem or two read out, so it might just be the place where we rope you in to our little family too!

5. You want to get you hands on Volume 1 of Songs of Motherhood - Għanjiet l-Omm

We will definitely have a few (not many!) copies for sale at the event should you wish to get your hands on one. It's a lovely book, if we do say so ourselves. 🌸 Remember, you can always purcahse the book online at songsofmotherhood.com.mt or at one of our stockists listed on the site.

Spaces are limited - so if you wish to join us next Thursday 14th September at Marilu's, drop us a line on Facebook, Instagram or email us on roberta@words.com.mt

We hope to see you x
